I fell in love when I was sixteen. Landon was my entire world and I thought he would be my forever. But I was young and dumb, and with one error in judgement, I destroyed any chance of a future we could’ve had together, along with our hearts.

Twelve years later and I’m going through the motions of life, but not actually living. Which is why I let my friends, Bridget and Simon, set me up on a blind date. Turns out, it’s not so blind after all. Because the man sitting in front of me is the same man who’s held onto my heart all these years.

They call me a Clutch Player because I’m good under pressure and quick on my feet. I was also quick to fall in love. The first time it was with baseball, the second was with Harper. And for a short time I had them both.

Until I lost Harper and all I had left was baseball.

For years, I focused on my career. I had accepted that baseball was my one true love.

Until I saw her again. I never imagined we’d ever get a second chance, but now that she’s sitting right across from me, I know there’s no way in hell I’m going to let her go again.

Reading the first chapter of Clutch Player and meeting a young version of our leading couple. I knew there was going to be a second chance story. There was something there in midst of everything going on. There was a connection that was special and I was devastated when it didn’t work out at the time. High school is not easy time and it was stacking against Harper. It was a small town and you get the feelings that things were always going to have some negative effect no matter what happened.

The second chance was sweeter even though there was higher stakes . I think they need the time and made their relationship just even more special. I was rooting for this couple, hoping that they would get the ending that they deserved . That Landon wouldn’t be clutch player again.  He wouldn’t just be the person who saved Harper when she needed at sixteen until she gave her love back and destroyed him.

Was it smooth saling, no. Harper made mistakes and Landon paid the prize. You had to hate what she did, even though it made her stronger in the end. She lost her innocence at a cost and  she paying the prize when they reunite those years later.

The cost outweighed the prize at the start of this book. Ash made this couple work for the prize. Succeed at any cost and it was worth the weight. Their romance as older and wiser people wasn’t easy but it was sweet as hell. Landon and Harper wormed their ways into my heart with the determination and hope they had to give things another go despite what the past had taught them. It made the ending all the more sweeter to see them where they belong.
