In this spine-chilling gothic murder mystery set in gritty Victorian-era London, an intrepid society girl finds herself inescapably embroiled in the investigation of a ghastly serial killer known as Jack the Ripper.

Seventeen-year-old Audrey Rose Wadsworth was born a lord’s daughter, with a life of wealth and privilege stretched out before her. But between the social teas and silk dress fittings, she leads a forbidden secret life.

Against her stern father’s wishes and society’s expectations, Audrey often slips away to her uncle’s laboratory to study the gruesome practice of forensic medicine. When her work on a string of savagely killed corpses drags Audrey into the investigation of a serial murderer, her search for answers brings her close to her own sheltered world.

The story’s shocking twists and turns, augmented with real, sinister period photos, will make this dazzling debut from author Kerri Maniscalco impossible to forget.

Another series that I sorely have regrets not reading sooner because  who doesn’t love Cresswell. He  is such an unusual character and interesting potential love interest.  However the reason why he works so well is  the creepy horror novel that  is Stalking jack the Jack the Ripper.

He perfect for Audrey a seventeen year oid not interested in being a prim and proper miss and rather get her hands dirty.  She rather be solving murders and helping her uncle much to horror of her father.  He is  everything her uncle is not and rather see her be controlled and hidden away .  This one of my favourite things  about Audrey as she is ahead of her time and it makes her stand out for the right reasons . Also she adorable clueless  with how to deal Cresswell sometimes.

As she more concerned about challenging him on the basis of how she is living her life.  The way she living is no way for a  faint hearted miss by delving into territories that were off limits in her time and it only add to the charm of this story.

These two together were perfect to solve this mystery that was terrorising London.  They are bantering their  way through London trying to hide their feelings and solve this mystery. The mystery is A+ and adds to this character driven novel

As it adds to life that Thomas and Audrey want to lead despite being respectable members of society who are expected to become  functional members of the said society.

Thomas is the  special kind of lead. He comes across the typical  geek but there so much more to this guy. I can see what Aubrey saw in him even though he was definitely odd and off putting at first.  He know  to charm her thought even though it seems a little weird the way he does. It just adds to his character and makes Aubrey even more determined to find her way.

And Aubrey she fighting to have the same rights and it’s set in late 1800’s one of my favourite time periods. The time of bodice rippers and more, it’s nice to see a more gruesome take appear on my bookshelves.

The ending is a masterpiece, I like the combination of the classic tale with elements from anther. It end perfectly and  allows the reader to feel the accomplishment of Aubrey and Thomas . It’s vivid and descriptions only adds to the richness of this gruesome take and brings the myth of Jack the Ripper to life brilliantly. Definitely a series to read  as there nothing else like this book on the market. It’s cross genres and themes will appeal to all readers. Stalking Jack the Ripper is a must read for YA lovers.
