This was my first special edition in forever and it made me realise how much I have been missing out by sticking to a couple of  Harlequin/ Mills and Boon lines only. Maxwell really won me over in this one book and  this was a heartwarming tale that would warm up anyone’s heart these holidays. She truly gets into the holiday spirit in this book and this why this book instantly became a favourite as we gather around Hurley’s Homestyle Kitchen again for some Christmas cheer.

Whilst is it the fifth book of the series, it  definitely can be read standalone and familiar readers will love seeing old favourites popping up again. However for me, I was more intrigued in the  leads and a pair of adorable twins  who brought them together.

It was a quirky situation, I have  read my fill of Amish romances in my time, however Anna’s situation was different from most. She knew that she didn’t fit into the Amish culture that her family has been in for generations. She dreamt of bigger things and I loved that she was willing to make her thoughts and feelings known.    A feisty woman which always good down well in my books as you know that she going not let things go by .

Even though it caused a bit of trouble for her uncle and aunt who wanted the best for her . It worked out well in the end for everyone.  As fate had other ideas and who knew taking a late rumspringa would lead to this quirky situation.

Despite the casting of Anna as an Amish woman who is at a  crossroad with her life. The book isn’t defined by Anna or Colt for that matter. It’s an important part of the relationship and story. However it’s their abilities and emotions  and the fact they are thrown together to care for Colt’s two adorable nephews.

Our hero is a bit of a lone wolf, it is quickly easy to see that he has a chip on his shoulder. Colt  isn’t a bad sort. He just doesn’t know how to deal his emotions.  He just keeps everyone afar, he doesn’t get to close. His job as a FBI agent is his life so when he has some down time. He is a bit of a loss what to do exactly with his leave.  Therefore I loved the clever planning of his sister to thrown him into this situation.

It really made him address things that he had holding back from and  I loved seeing Colt shine and turn into someone wasn’t carrying a chip and could welcome love ones truly into his life..  He transformed into a man who embraced what life had given him.  Getting into the holiday spirit and falling in love with Anna who was waiting for him.

It was cute romance between them and I loved that romance was fitting of their  characters given their backgrounds. Maxwell could have gone a number of ways with this novel but I loved how she did it . She didn’t  drilled into us and show too much of the world Colt  came from. Don’t get me wrong that world is interesting but wasn’t a key aspect of this story showing him in action.   Instead taking the opportunity to explore a man and his heart who was falling for a woman and is conflicted between two worlds.

It’s a beautiful story and Maxwell really brought the Holiday spirit to life.  Santa’s Seven Day Christmas Tutorial definitely lives up its name and gives these two a tutorial that they will never forget

I live on the coast of Maine with my teenaged son, our sweet beagle, Lemon, and a black and white cat named Cleo. Interesting tidbit: Meg Maxwell is a pseudonym–my real name is Melissa Senate, author of many women’s fiction titles (See Jane Date; The Love Goddess’ Cooking School) that have been published in over twenty-five countries.

I’ve been reading and loving romance novels for almost thirty years and I’m so excited about my first category romance series: HURLEY’S HOMESTYLE KITCHEN: Book 1, A COWBOY IN THE KITCHEN, was published in March ’16; Book 2, THE DETECTIVE’S 8 LB, 10 OZ SURPRISE, was published in May. Book #3, THE COWBOY’S BIG FAMILY TREE, follows in October/November. In 2017, three more Hurley’s novels are coming, starting with THE COOK’S SECRET INGREDIENT in February and CHARM SCHOOL FOR COWBOYS in May. And another in November! I’m also writing a book that will part of the new Montana Mavericks continuity series that will be published in August ’17.

Second chance romances always seemed to rate high in my books since they generally always appeal to me. Plus there some juicy secrets to be involved as time has passed right and a lot can changed in that period. Whether it is a short or long period, as in this story it may have been a few weeks but  there a little secret that could cause a quite bombshell.

Charlotte, is a woman who doesn’t seemed to be what she paints herself to be. A young woman who  loves a good party and has a had revolving door of jobs in her short working career. As one of the Locke siblings, her life has been a pedestal.  However this isn’t what we are presented with , when the author introduces her in the first few pages. A determined woman , who is keen to make to get what she wants  and do something with the opportunity.

Until her ex Michael Kelly is revealed as the part already selling the apartments she wants her hands on to sell .  Easily can see where this book is going, a little old health competition didn’t hurt anyone. Yet the story doesn’t rest it’s laurels on the competition and the fact they are back in each other lives after mere months.
Michael isn’t with out his own  problems. Getting close to Charlotte the first time it seems, evoked something that he doesn’t know how to deal with. So I don’t know if  the three months was long enough as Michael is more then keen to return to the old ways pretty quickly once Charlotte back in the picture . As he seemed like he was  cruising along , determined to show that he was still the top dog .

He wasn’t a bad sort once the story revealed secrets  and allowed us to get to know Michael better  as the book  went on. There was so much more to this story and the holidays brought the best in most people.  I think they need the break and it made them for the better once everything was out in the open.

They needed a push a little secret was the perfect answer even though it did played out for most of the book. I think the author had the right intentions with that, allowing to get the past hurt and rekindled first before deluging into the secret that drove Charlotte for most of this book.

My  only problem with this story whilst it was a second chance romance and we did get to see them hashing out their past . I would have shown some of their relationship .  I love a good mix of showing and telling and these two were so electrifying together once reunited  . I wanted to see the original sparks!

Otherwise it was a good solid romance that happen to have some Christmas cheer involved.  For a desire novel, you won’t be disappointed.

Another Christmas offering from Harlequin from their Love Inspired line, Secret Christmas Twin is a  holiday romance with a twist.  A secret twist that the hero and his grandfather aren’t privy to until it’s near the end of the book.   Obviously it is going to cause havoc but it’s Christmas and it is a time for forgiveness right?

Especially when it a promise of a new beginning and a beautiful one at that . Given that the changes you are about to witness , in heart and mind it is a Christmas miracle.

Erica the heroine, is a tough as nail woman and I admired her even though my heart broke for her at times.  From birth, the world was against her but she still managed to see the good in the world and trust God for her needs.  Even though she didn’t expect things to turn out the way that they did when she first arrived in town .  She trying to do the best not for herself but the twins, even though she quickly realises that it isn’t going to be easy.

As she already got prejudgement in her mind thanks to Kimmie who is the matchmaker you could say. She believes that Erica is the best choice and that she would protect them.  Jason isn’t cut out or prepared for a job  or is he ?

Jason a product of his own childhood  and a man who  become a protector to easy the pain he had with his own family.  Even being the area that holds a the only great memories of his childhood  , Jason  is there for his  grandfather . The man who  was there for him and gave him everything. Jason isn’t a man who shies away from  the most important things. . It shows pretty quickly even though he doesn’t have much to do with kids.  However Erica is another story.

She honestly makes him, truly forget everything all the issues he had and the other women in his life.  She probably the best thing to happen to him in a long time , yet he questions things. See he is a detective and that inquisitive nature hasn’t gone away.  It causes tension and the twins are the saving grace for these two .

As they tug on everyone’s heartstrings and  these twins are the reason for the story. They bring together Jason and Erica and allow them to see what they have been missing. A lot of hurt has caused them to  missed out on certain things in life and I love how this was brought full circle and therefore letting them start afresh.

A beautiful heart stirring Christmas tale
