Blog Tour: The Next Generation by S.C. Stephens

By S.C. Stephens

Series: Conversion #4 (beginning of the second arc)

Release Date: September 28, 2017

Fitting in can be hard for anyone. But for Julian and Nika Adams, it’s especially challenging. Born as partial vampires, a rare offshoot of pureblood vampires, the twins have had to deceive people their entire lives—distancing themselves from their peers.

Nika desperately wants a hero, a soulmate, someone she can trust with every fibre of her soul—someone as amazing as her father. The boys at her high school aren’t impressing, but luckily for Nika, Hunter Evans has moved into the neighborhood.

Julian desperately wishes he could sever the empathic bond he has with his sister. While it was fun to experience each other’s emotions when they were kids, now that Julian finds himself pining for a girl he can’t have, sharing his feelings is the last thing he wants to do.

I can see why Stephens decided to re-release The Next Generation and allow a whole new audience to discover this book. It has been a few years since vampires were the it thing in YA. However this book stood the test of times and will appeal to paranormal fans. As it is well written and  storyline is one that easy to follow and entertaining.  These aren’t the sparkle kind,  the cliché vampires so to speak.

This why I enjoyed the story so much, these characters happened to be vampires.  The main plot in fact was more dealing with typical teenage problems and their lives as vampires happened to get in the way.

This is the  fourth book in the series,  however it definitely can be read standalone. It set ten years later after the first three books and follow like the title suggest the next generation.  The twins Nika and Julian who are now sixteen years old and trying to live a normal life as possible but  it isn’t easy when you’re a vampire.

They have been lying as long as they can remember about their family situation. It hasn’t been easy but they have survived. Until their lives are tested by their loves lives   a simple  millstone of life  but with a difference thanks their emphatic  bond

Being twins with an emphatic bond makes life not easy as they deal with  their wants and desires. Julian in love with a girl who doesn’t  want to know. He doesn’t want to share his feelings with his twin sister of all people. As Nika isn’t as free as he is .  She wants something special, like she sees with her parents. She isn’t  someone  who would just  give her heart away . Until Hunter enters her life and changes everything forever and makes her question things like her brother

Both individuals with different  wants  and desires. The twin’s story is weaved highs and lows as they deal with their love lives. A typical teen affair and I enjoyed the tale. As it came natural as we dove deeper into their lives and discovered their secrets.  Tackling the problems of life whilst trying  to stay under the radar.

Stephens wrote a story that would appeal to YA fans that enjoy paranormal stories.  The Next Generation was a substantial read and I enjoyed the tale.  Whilst slightly predicated with  love interests. I loved the concept of the story and how it played out. I do hope that Stephens continues this series now that she has re-released this book. As there is some loose ends and I do  wonder what happened next.

S.C. Stephens is a bestselling author who enjoys spending every free moment she has creating stories that are packed with emotion and heavy on romance.

Her debut novel, Thoughtless, an angst-filled love triangle charged with insurmountable passion and the unforgettable Kellan Kyle, took the literary world by storm. Amazed and surprised by the response to the release of Thoughtless in 2009, more stories were quick to follow. Stephens has been writing nonstop ever since.

In addition to writing, Stephens enjoys spending lazy afternoons in the sun reading fabulous novels, loading up her iPod with writer’s block reducing music, heading out the movies and spending quality time with her friends and family. She currently resides in the beautiful Pacific Northwest with her two equally beautiful children.
