He was the myth and the legend of our small town. But no one knew the truth… except me.

My childhood was stolen by a monster. I’ve forgotten what love feels like. What happiness feels like. What hope feels like. I am numb.

He’s possibly as damaged as I am. Maybe even more. Scarred just as much on the inside as the outside. Just like me. He doesn’t speak. He doesn’t smile. He hides in the woods like an animal.  I should be scared of him. But I’m not. He’s the only one that has ever made me feel. And I want to make him feel, too. everything…

Cole has been a favourite  of mine ever since I first discovered her  through word of mouth. There was something about her prose and the characters that she created  that made them addicting and I couldn’t get enough of them.    Lucky for us , Cole didn’t say goodbye to the world she created in the Ashes and Embers  series and decided to tell the stories of  others from that world  .

The Devil Wolves series  is a result of that decision and Tied the second book is somewhat  a departure in a sense from what I have come to expect.   This is a grittier and somewhat darker  tale  but  has the trademark uniqueness that I love from Cole and it won’t disappoint.

Tied is a standalone tale telling the story of two broken souls in dual perspective . Tyler Grace is a man compelled to live a life as an outcast riddled with guilt .  The scars, tattoos and voice paint a picture of his life so far marred by tragedy and his decisions.   He is a nobody to anyone outside his family and lives a life surrounded by the forest. The one place that he feels safe and comfortable in able to live his life quiet and undisturbed  from everyone  .

Until  all that changes, when he finds her , a young scared malnourished girl trapped  in a hole in his forest. A girl whose story is only just beginning,  scared and brutalised with her childhood in tatters.   All thanks to a monster who stole her away from everything she once knew.  Holly Daniels’s life isn’t  one  that is riddled with guilt but with a lack of emotions  that has slowly been taken away from her thanks to the monster. Now the only thing  holding together is her prince, the one  who rescued her and gave her the only glimpse of hope since her story/nightmare began . A feeling that she wants to repay but  doesn’t know where to begin.  As fiction and reality doesn’t   mix well together and   Holly is about to learn that being tied to Tyler isn’t going to be like the fairy tales that she read and loved for years. The  fairytales are  the only connection to her childhood and they kept her going. As the real world isn’t  a beautiful magical place.  It is cruel and unforgiving  world that doesn’t have a ready made place for people like Holly who live in fiction rather then reality.

Fairytales are the basis of any childhood giving children some of  their vivid imaginations and  creativity . However as the childhood naïve goes away and the illusions of fairytale romances as well. We hold on still to those hopes secretly and hope that we will be one of the lucky ones and  our dreams will come true. Holly was  lucky in some ways. She  was m destroyed by a monster emotionally and physically  but the childlike faith in fiction was adorable and endearing .   It added charm to this story when it was hard to read about her and watch her deal with the repercussions of what happened to her.

Tied is a brilliant book , there is no doubt about the way the author weaved this beautiful story is a  testament to this.  Cole has a way of gripping your attention with her stories and this one was no exception.  There is many layers to this story and  I loved how Cole unfolded the layers and let these characters tell their story in their own way.  Broken souls aren’t fixed over night and this story needed to be told in a such a way that was believable and endearing. It wasn’t hard to fall for these  characters as in a instance they become special. Holly with the childlike qualities because of her past and Tyler with his moody dark persona holding back from the  world.  Your heart wept for them and at the same time warmed to them. Seeing past the barriers and the scars that broken them and seeing them as two people who found a connection that was unbreakable.

Two broken souls tied together in a moment that is unforgettable and life changing. A moment that defined their lives and changed  lives forever because it wasn’t the normal cookie cutter moment. Cole didn’t  shy away give a story fitting of Holly’s fairytales. She instead showed us a raw and unforgiving world that has been hampered  and poked by the people in it .  Tied is a story that you don’t want to shy away from.  A story that explores the dark moments of life and delivers a story reminding us, that fairytale romances aren’t the only ones out there.

I have a passion for the bad boys, those covered in tattoos, sexy smirks, ripped jeans, fast cars, motorcycles and of course, the sweet girls that try to tame them and win their hearts. My debut series, Ashes & Embers, follows the lives of rock band members as they find, and sometimes lose, the loves of their lives.

Born and raised a Jersey girl, I now reside in beautiful New Hampshire with my husband and our multitude of furry pets and spend most of my time writing, reading, and vacuuming.
