The calm before the storm…

I lived in the quiet stillness.
I felt the wind rustle, warning me, telling me to get out of its path.

But I didn’t.
I never stood a chance.

A series of weather and road mishaps leaves me trapped in the middle of a blizzard with a complete stranger. In the back of a pickup truck. For forty-eight freakin’ hours.

A stranger with long hair, tattoos, and rippling with muscle.

A stranger with an insanely sexy voice and a wicked smile that turned my insides to jelly.

A stranger who held me in his arms, calmed me, and then set a fire in me that I couldn’t put out.

Storm lives up to his name. Beautiful. Dangerously inviting. Tumultuous. Dark. A clash of hot and cold.

He’s used to getting everything he wants.

And now he wants me.

Some people chase storms for the beautiful thrill. What happens when the storm chases you?

I discovered this series by chance when someone shared the stunning covers for these series and said they had enjoyed the series so far. So I was waiting for an opportunity to read these books purely because of the those gorgeous covers. Well the stories that lies underneath the covers are some my favourite rockstar stories to date. Each book is an unique and different telling the story of one of the brothers and cousins that makes up Ashes and Embers as they fall in love and deal with their demons.

Storm is the first book in the series that introduces to Ashes and Ember a rock and roll band. However it not the typical rockstar story as this book doesn’t start on the note that you would expect. The author hooks you in another way by throwing two individuals into a situation and creating a literal and figuratively storm.

Our heroine Evelyn is thrown into tumultuous storm literally and figuratively and focus to think everything when her life takes an unexpected turn that could be for better or worse. Though it up to her whether she takes a jump out of her comfort   zone

Evelyn is on her a way to a business meeting thinking it alright to drive through a blizzard when she looses control of her car and is forced into a ditch. She is stranded with no hopes of being rescued until a mysterious tattooed long hair stranger comes to her rescue.

Now Evelyn isn’t exactly happy to see him as he is stranger and despite his assurances that he can get her to safety and take her to her cabin.   Sheesh take his help already but Evelyn is a bit of straight lace person and takes a bit of banter but things seem to be getting better.

Well for a second…. as they don’t make it to the cabin because the mysterious stranger gets into an accident leaving them both stranded in the car with no help in sight and only each other and a big dog to keep them company.

However the mysterious stranger in question, is no ordinary man he is a rockstar but the author teases things out for a bit longer because Storm finds her refreshing despite her getting on his nerves.

Storm Valentine guitar player for Ashes and Embers is on his way to his cabin for a break from his busy life. He was doing his duty like any other human being would do come to the person aid’s. Never expecting to find a woman like Evelyn who challenges him every step but at the same time there is the connection that neither of them expects as they focused to spend a couple of days together.

Each revealing their lives which aren’t perfect and bonding over those stories despite their initial dislike and when it comes for them to go their separate ways. Storm wants more but there is a big problem.

Evelyn is in committed relationship with her boyfriend and there is no chance of her breaking up. So in a refreshing twist of events they become friends.

Will friends be enough though for either of them ?

As it is pretty clear that Storm wants more and he may have his sad past but this guy seems more screwed on when it comes to fate. In fact it is Evelyn who needs a push, she is reluctant to get out of her comfort zone and go into the unknown.  It wasn’t the fact that this book was told from her POV and we saw how much it was really effecting her the choices she had in front her I wouldn’t have enjoy as much

It almost border on the point is this woman too blind and turn of considering all things but I loved that the author used the opportunity to showcase how much a gentleman that Storm was despite who he was and the life he leads. He very direct and no nonsense when it came to getting his girl but he wasn’t a rockstar that took and left the woman to catch up

If you are looking for a different book where the hero happens to be a rockstar and falls for a woman who couldn’t care less that he is and focus more on their relationship and how it affects the band . Read this book as once you meet Storm you will definitely be hooked and devour the rest series so far like I have .
